KS version - 2023 12.2.2 (Build 4) [4.9.2]
Display driver version - 31.0.15.5161 (Date 15-FEB-2024)
GPU - RTX 3036
Win - Win 10 PRO
KS can startup no problem. Can also add a few geometries and render in performance mode. If in GPU mode it freezes right away.
Or if we try to pick a material from the material library.
I’m now using KS 2022 V11 it does not have any problem at all.
What can I do, i need KS 2023 to work…???
To be sure your video card is ok you can download a little tool called FurMark. Like KeyShot that will utilize your GPU to the max and if it crashes or hangs your system you know it’s not KeyShots issue but either hardware or driver related. Don’t run it if you’ve files open you want to save since it could potentially hang your windows so you need to restart your PC.
If FurMark crashes (that will happen quite early most of the time, like within a minute) it could be several things but it’s not related to KeyShot. Things that can be the problem are a defect of the GPU or for example a defect of the PSU which supplies not the power it needs constantly.
If FurMark runs nice I would reinstall the NVidia drivers. You can install the same but there’s also a more recent version if you want. If you install them I always pick custom install and without the GeForce Experience stuff. Also important is that you select the box ‘Clean Installation’ that will delete old files/cache first and install new drivers after the clean up. The screen will be blank for a minute or two but that’s normal.
Run the test “Furmark” for about 3 to 4 min a few times on different settings and it did not crash.
What can I do nnext ?
Something about the thumbnail for the materials i read in another post ???
I tried to change the screen resolution from 3440x1440 to 1920x1080, now KS 2023 do not crash / freeze.
So, what is the problem, for sure I want to run in wide screen mode as my wide monitor give me a bigger workspace.
Any solution to this problem???
If the card gets 3-4 minutes in FurMark the GPU/PSU you can consider ok.
How you do open those scenes? Do you double click the .bip or do you open it inside KeyShot? I was thinking maybe you could try to open KS, put it in GPU mode and than open the scene. That way it doesn’t need to switch to GPU while loading.
Still, really odd it works on a lower resolution so the above is just a possible workaround since it should work no matter you open a file of course.
I’m not sure if you’re able to share the scene else I could take a look how it behaves here if I put my screens on some high resolution. If you want you can share it to me via wetransfer.com and send me a private message.
Not sure if you tried or installed it yet but does KeyShot 2024.1 behaves the same?
